

Oakland AB5 Protests Causing Delays
The Port of Oakland is experiencing severe delays as the AB5 protests continue, which is brining the port operations to a dead halt. According to the Port of Oakland officials, these protests have "effectively shut down operations at shipping terminals." A domino effect has began as vessels are now becoming backed up at the ports as the protests continue on its 4th day. CSL will continue to monitor this situation.


Truckers Protest California's AB5 at LA/Long Beach, & Oakland Ports
Hundreds of truckers organized to protest all Oakland, Los Angeles and Long Beach terminals due to the new California AB5 law. The Assembly Bill 5 (AB5) law seeks to limit the use of independent contractors and classify them as employee drivers. According to the California Trucking Association, more than 70,000 truckers that move cargo in and out of the Los Angeles and Long Beach terminals are owner operators (rather than employees are are under a trucking company).
